Irene Murphy Scholarship: application deadline March 9th, 2012
Started in 1987 and named after the Credit Union's first manager, we've proudly awarded this $5,000 scholarship to a local high school senior, or recent graduate, who has achieved academic excellence and demonstrated outstanding leadership through community involvement.  This year we received fifty one exceptional applications - wow!  And our Selection Committee was so impressed that two applicants were selected to receive 2011 Irene Murphy Scholarships.  Oh - and we later discovered that one of our winners is the great, great niece of the scholarship's namesake!  How cool is that?  Applications available here

Our sincere congratulations go out to Irene's great, great niece Kassandra Freeman, our $5,000 recipient, and Ashley Peterman, who was awarded $3,000!!  Kassandra, who will attend Eastern Oregon University, plans to study Animal Science and aspires to become a Veterinarian.  Ashley probably won't be spending as much time with animals, but will put her money to good use at The University of Oregon in the study of Pharmaceutical Medicine.  Best of luck to both!!
